Mute Swans Advisory
We have received reports that some homeowners have had encounters with mute swans that are acting aggressively. In order to reduce the probability of future incidents, JLCA would ask that homeowners refrain from feeding the mute swans. By feeding them, it decreases their fear of humans which can lead to aggressive behavior.
Alternatively, if the mute swan is acting aggressively in your yard, you could go inside or the IN DNR recommends using reflective tape, flags or bright lights to keep them away. You could also use air horns or your garden hose to spray them with water as well. However, be careful approaching mute swans too closely as they can be aggressive!
